EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PMU
Permanent makeup is also known as cosmetic tattooing. The procedure is performed in a various amount of ways. I personally use a digital rotary machine, and a hand tool for microblading eyebrows. Before treatment a consultation takes place at the time of your appointment to understand the realistic expectations of permanent makeup and skin suitability. We will then draw on your makeup and create a stencil of how you want your desired shape. A before photo is taken, and consent forms filled out while the numbing process is started. Throughout the procedure, topical anesthetic will be re-applied keeping you comfortable. When the treatment is finished some after care cream will be applied. You will be advised on after care and will be given an after care leaflet. The treatment area may feel sensitive.
Questions Everyone Asks about Permanent Makeup Procedures?
The three questions I get asked most often are: "Will it hurt?", "Will it look natural?" and "What is the recovery time after the procedure?". Since I use surgical strength topical anesthetic, most people are quite comfortable during the procedure. Special techniques, such as "hair-stroke" eyebrow imitation, have been developed to make permanent makeup appear as natural as possible. During the procedures, the bleeding and swelling is controlled by epinephrine, so there is no down time - in most cases you can go out right away!
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, in the Photo Gallery section of this webpage, and also my Instagram page @ibrowstiful , I have included "Before" and "After" picture of my clients, taken immediately before and within minutes after the procedure. You can be the judge if it looks natural and if any additional recovery time is needed.
Before Treatment
A full and in depth consultation is carried out at the time of your appointment to understand your skin suitability and realistic expectations of permanent make-up. All colors and shapes are customized to each person! I will always draw on first to make sure this is YOUR desired shape, no surprises! . A consent form will be filled out to ensure we have all the medical information necessary for the procedure. Your photo will be taken and we will apply topical anesthetic cream to start your numbing process so you will be comfortable during the procedure. and the initial measurements will be marked and drawn on first to make sure this is YOUR desired shape and get your approval before we start.
During Treatment
A topical anesthetic will be re-applied during procedure keeping you comfortable. A fine needle with the use of a top of the trade tattoo machine, or a hand tool will be used to implant the dermatologically tested and state of the art pigments into the skin (NOT body art inks as they are not fit for a natural look on the face)
After Treatment
When the treatment is finished you will be advised on after care for your individual procedure. The treatment area may feel sensitive.
Follow Up Treatment
You will be booked in for your follow up treatment to complete the final adjustments. (The "followup" visit) This will ensure that your enhancement will be beautiful & complete. Your follow-up appointment will be no sooner than 8 weeks from your initial treatment because skin needs sufficient time to heal and be comfortable before we go back into the treated area.
Will Microbladed Eyebrows (hairstrokes) or Shaded Eyebrows look or work better for me?
If you have extremely oily skin, the 3D eyebrow technique (hairstrokes) may NOT work well for you but I am happy to do it for you as long as you have a realistic expectation of healed results. The constant production of oil will cause the hair-strokes to heal with a diffused, softer look. Your end result will look more powdered than you would expect, and you lose that “hair stroke” look. Usually a Shaded or "ombre" brow will be more suitable for oily skin types, which still yields beautiful results. Hybrid Brows are a combination of both techniques and is what most skin types need. I always utilize our consultation time in the beginning of our appointment to determine and explain which technique will work the best for you and your particular skin type and lifestyle.
If you are a frequent smoker, your pigment will fade sooner.
If you are iron deficient or Anemic, your pigment will fade sooner and bleeding/bruising may occur during and after the procedure.
Unhealthy compromised skin due to health issues, medications and over use of (anti aging, acne skincare, etc..) are all factors in the outcome. To keep your hair strokes looking good, a refresher appointment is suggested every 8 months to 2 years. Results vary with each client.
Additional touch-up appointments will be charged depending on how much work is to be done.
FOLLOWUPS:
This 2nd touch-up appointment for NEW clients is crucial for the best results, and is not optional. (Follow-up appointment no sooner than 8wks, or it will be considered a color boost)
Additional touch-up appointments will be charged depending on how much work is to be done.
IMPORTANT:
Healed results will vary with each individual client. NO guarantee will be made and additional sessions (at a minimum charge) may be required to obtain optimal results. Additional charges will apply. Although we give our best efforts to provide you with quality service, many factors can result in a less than desired outcome as each client will heal differently. Please refer to my Pre-Care page to see if the services I offer may be beneficial to you and whether or not the Before & Aftercare Directions are a good fit for your lifestyle.
